Final Trailer For X-Men: Days of Future Past

Here's your final trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It would seem that Professor Xavier's School has hit some hard times. What happened? How much time has passed since First Class?

And here we get the basic plot of the movie. Wolverine goes back in time to an extremely scruffy looking Professor X, to warn him about the Sentinels.

And now he has to assemble the X-Men. No wait, we can't use 'assemble.' Let's use, 'bring them together.' Man, there are a crap ton of mutants in this movie.

Professor X seems very unwilling to help out. And maybe if he hears from his future self, that'll straighten him out.

It's gonna take all of them to end this war. It's X-Men United Part 2!

So Wolverine goes to recruit Beast, and he seems pretty unwilling to join. Okay, now I'm actually interested in what happened to the school and why everyone is separated from Professor X.

Meanwhile, Mystique has taken up gymnastics.

And Magneto is 100 floors below the Pentagon.

So Wolverine goes to recruit Quicksilver to help break out Magneto.

Professor X and Magneto's encounter is about as expected. I mean one guy did cripple the other. Wait a minute, Charles is walking just fine! WTF?!?

Magneto takes out his frustration over instant replay on a baseball stadium.

Tyrion Lannister, ahem Bolivar Trask presents his first line of Sentinels. They look like big Dyson vacuums. I hope they don't suck. Wow, extremely corny joke. I'm so sorry.

Quick cuts of the X-Men in action. Everyone and their mother is in this movie.

Since this Wolverine is still prior to his Weapon X adamantium days, he still has his bone claws.

More action shots. Iceman freezing a Sentinel and getting smacked, Mystique jumping out a window in France, and Wolverine fighting a Sentinel.

Remember that baseball stadium Magneto was lifting?

Yeah, it doesn't look good for the cops.

This is probably the best trailer I've seen for the movie, yet I still don't have the excitement level I've had for previous X-Men movies. But it has dragged me out of the general apathetic feeling I had for it, into mildly interested in the plot line and how the timeline gets explained. Why is the school in such disarray? How is the Professor able to walk? When and where does the future timeline exist? Does it just disregard Last Stand? Honestly, I'd disregard it too. I love stories with all the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff, so the time travel aspect of this should be right up my alley. But my expectations are low, and my only hope is that it surprises me.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23rd.

  1. But according to Back to the Future, the future you and the past you cannot meet, or else- dire consequences.
