Merry Christmas!!!

The Real Ghostbusters "A Christmas Carol" episode. My only qualm is all the ghosts of Christmas are present at the same time to be caught, but otherwise a great episode!

Monday December 23rd Catchup

Credit: latino-review.com
You've probably heard that Paul Rudd is going to be Ant-Man in the upcoming Marvel film directed by Edgar Wright. It's a great choice and he should fit right in to Wright's manic, packed with energy directing style.  But in other Marvel Cinematic Universe casting news, word from latino-review.com is that they are looking for another villain for Age of Ultron, and that villain is Baron Von Strucker. In the comics, he's the leader of HYDRA, you know, the bad guys from Captain America who are twice as bad as Nazis because they raise both their arms in the air when they salute. He's also essentially ageless and if he's killed, he can come back to life. Hmmm, Vandal Savage anyone? Nah, wrong universe. He's not a major villain, but he will help setup Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch's introductions.

The Cybertronic Spree

Stan Bush calls these guys "awesomely strange."  Yup, that about sums it up. The Cybertronic Spree perform covers from the 1986 animated movie dressed as Transformers.  Aside from the fact that the costumes are just a little unsettling, I'm giving this a thumbs up because it takes balls to do this, and of course it's all in good fun.  Check out their website here, and here's their cover of "The Touch"

Monday December 16th Catch-up

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Just wanted to catch everybody up on a bunch of stories I found interesting that came out this weekend that you may have missed.  Might make this Monday catch-up a regular thing.

The Verge (through Reddit) has a post on an abandoned nursing school that has its walls covered in Batman & Joker graffiti.  It's pretty cool and you can check out The Verge post here and the album here.

Sherlock Meets The Doctor

Here's a fan made video of Sherlock Holmes meeting The Doctor.  Now, I'm a Doctor Who noob, but I'm definitely a fan of Sherlock, and this video was made with a lot of love for both franchises.  There are some amazing amateur video mashups being done out there, and here's one of them.

Edge of Tomorrow Trailer

Tom Cruise, you know the guy everyone makes so many Scientology jokes about, returns in another sci-fi film, Edge of Tomorrow.  The action star actually hasn't been in as many sci-fi films than I thought.  Minority Report was pretty good, but War of the Worlds wasn't, and Oblivion this past year didn't exactly set the world on on fire.  In  Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise plays someone caught in a time loop experiencing the day of his final battle over and over again.  Think Groundhog Day but with mech suits & aliens.  This is the first I'm hearing of this film, and it looks like it may have potential.  Honestly, I'm just a sucker for armored suits.  Edge of Tomorrow comes out June 2014.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Breakdown

Spider-Man is back, in a more classic costume, and bigger eyes!  The trailer starts with Spidey falling through the sky and monologuing about making more enemies the longer he's around.  That's when we get a brief look at the Rhino suit, which is basically a mech.  I'm in for that because Paul Giamatti may be a good actor, but he's no musclebound Rhino.

Gal Gadot is Your New Wonder Woman

You may remember Gal Gadot from the Fast & Furious franchise. Now she's been cast in Zack Snyder's Batman vs Superman as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman.  BTW, I've only just noticed that Batman gets top billing in this movie title.  Really?  It's a Superman movie and Batman gets top billing?  Anyway, the overwhelming reaction to this has been, she's too thin, she's gotta have a sandwich. Okay Internet, what if she does bulk up for the role like Christian Bale did for Batman?  Okay, maybe not quite that much, but what do you think? Can the Israeli born actress pull off the Amazonian role?  Or do you think that maybe, just maybe, they're trying to cram way too much into this movie.  Past Batman sequels have taught us, more villains and heroes do not necessarily make for a good film.  Then again, the role may be just a cameo, and she may not even don the Wonder Woman costume. Well, the Internet would just raise hell over that wouldn't they?
