I Have Been And Always Shall Be Your Friend

Thirty-plus years later, that quote from the end of Wrath of Khan always gets me. Leonard Nimoy passed away today at the age of 83 from complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It's impossible to sum up his 60+ year career since he'll forever be remembered as Spock from Star Trek, and I'm not even going to try. The only way I know how to honor a man who has influenced me so much growing up is to share some moments that I enjoyed the most.

The Big Bang Theory

Nimoy retired from acting in 2010, but that didn't preclude him from doing voice-over work. Nimoy is one of Sheldon's idols, and in the episode "The Transporter Malfunction, he dreams about his Spock action figure giving him advice on what to do with his newly acquired Star Trek transporter toy.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman

Zack Snyder tweeted a picture of Jason Momoa as Aquaman from the upcoming Batman V Superman movie.

The post displays the message, "Unite The Seven," referring to the seven members of the Justice League. I think it looks pretty badass. What do you think?

Eddie Murphy's Best SNL Moments

With Eddie Murphy's disappointing appearance on last night's 40th Anniversary Special of SNL, it's probably best just to remember the old sketches. So for your viewing and goofing off pleasure, I've compiled some of my favorites.

James Brown Celebrity Hot Tub Party

The concept is simple. Have Eddie Murphy dance around a hot tub in a bathrobe and gold speedo singing almost unintelligibly as James Brown.

SNL 40th Anniversary Special Best Moments

Holy Crap! Saturday Night Live is as old as I am?!? Just how funny SNL is (or was) is always debatable. Everyone always claims their era was the best and the show currently sucks. Personally, my favorite era had Hans and Franz, the Church Lady, and Wayne's World. I'm probably dating myself here, but can you tell I'm a Dana Carvey fan? But every era has had its highs and lows. And those highs (and a few lows) were certainly on showcase last night at Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center. So here's a list of some of my favorite moments from last night.

The History of SNL

Continuing their "History of Rap" series, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake started the show weaving various famous SNL skits, characters, and catchphrases into a little ditty that went something like this.

Crimson Peak

I'm not a huge fan of the horror genre, but I am a big fan of director Guillermo del Toro. It's undeniable that he makes beautiful looking movies like Pan's Labyrinth, but he also does action really well. Just look at Blade II, the Hellboy films, and Pacific Rim for example. So even though his next film, Crimson Peak looks firmly to be horror based, it has raised some of my interest. Here's the official synopsis of the film:

"In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds...and remembers."

The film stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), and will be released Oct 16th. So what do you think? Will this movie be del Toro's "Ultimate Masterpiece" as the trailer proclaims? Or would you rather wait for Pacific Rim 2?

Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life

This past Sunday, HBO aired a Game of Thrones special titled "A Day In The Life" detailing much of the behind the scenes work that goes on in just one day of production on the Game of Thrones sets. If you're a Game of Thrones fan and are interested in some of the work that goes on behind the camera, AND you're looking for a little glimpse of season 5, this is a great look at that.

And here are five things to take away most from this special.

Furious 7 Trailer #2

On Sunday, the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks. More importantly, one of the commercials to debut during the game was a minute long trailer for Furious 7. Even more importantly, a new extended trailer debuted yesterday showcasing nearly three minutes of footage. If you can't get enough of the Fast & Furious franchise, here's the trailer in all its ridiculous glory.

While the first three movies in the franchise were about racing, and the last three were essentially heist movies, this latest installment seems to be taking the "revenge" direction. Maybe that's why the movies always feel fresh, even though they don't really add anything new. It doesn't matter. I'm still excited to see it! Now onto the breakdown.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer

After weeks of multiple, short Three-Eyed Raven teases, Game of Thrones finally has a proper trailer for season 5 and if for some reason you have seen it yet, here it is!

Considering all the characters that are on the show, cramming all of them into a 2-minute trailer is pretty daunting. And when you factor in all the new characters, you get a jam packed trailer that ultimately doesn't give us too much, but does stoke the anticipation for the show's return on April 12th. In any case, let's take a closer look at the trailer.

Daredevil Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Marvel's Daredevil is finally out and it's super dark! Not just in tone, but in picture quality. I seriously had to turn up the brightness on my monitor to see anything... Anyway, squint and watch the trailer below.

With my anticipation for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, Daredevil has been completely off my radar. So let's take a closer look at the trailer and see if it deserves to be ON my radar.
