Nerf Doublestrike Project

Back in December I repainted a toy Star Wars gun into a more realistic looking Han Solo blaster. On the advice of expert prop maker Bill Doran from Punished Props, I decided to apply this technique again to a Nerf gun. I know there's a sizable Nerf modification community out there that focuses on increasing firing power, but that's not what I'm trying to do. This project is about getting better at painting, making this toy gun look more realistic, and practicing with my new airbrush. Since I'm still just starting out, a small toy gun was a good place to start, and the Nerf Doublestrike is a cheap enough gun to practice on. I got this at Walmart for about $8 on sale. And it's available on Amazon for about the same price.

Now We Are So Happy, We Do The Dance Of Joy!

I know this isn't going to get much fanfare but thirty years ago today, Perfect Strangers, one of my favorite shows of all time premiered. It's the story of a naive, but good-hearted immigrant from the fictional island of Mypos named Balki Bartokomous coming to America to live with his cousin Larry Appleton. It's the classic fish out of water premise played to comedy perfection by Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker. Plus it had in my opinion, one of the best opening theme songs... ever...

LEGO Ghostbusters Neutrino Wand

Credit: LEGO Ideas

Following in the footsteps of the LEGO Ecto-1 and the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse, a new plan has been submitted to LEGO Ideas. And it's the Ghostbusters neutrino wand! The great thing about it is it's a 1:1 scale replica so you can actually hold this and pretend you're a Ghostbuster. The detail on this piece is pretty cool. Just check out the control panel.

As with all LEGO Ideas submissions, this one needs your help. It'll need at least 10,000 supporters to get to the review stage so head on over to LEGO Ideas and throw your support behind this set!

"It's all of us... Against a god..."

There's a new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse! While it doesn't offer any new plot details; it's still basically Apocalypse wants to destroy the world and the X-Men have to stop him; but there's a bunch of new footage. Here's the trailer!

There's a lot going on in the trailer so here's some of the highlights.

The trailer starts with some familiar dialogue that was in the closing scene of the original X-Men movie.

"Doesn't it ever wake you up in the middle of the night. The feeling that someday, they'll come for you, and your children?"

Captain America: Civil War 2nd Trailer Breakdown

But let's not bury the lead here. It's the first time we're seeing Spider-Man! Admittedly, I would have liked his appearance to be a surprise when I see the movie for the first time, but whatever. He looks great, and I'm still totally excited to see this!

There's tons of new footage so let take a close look.

3D Printed Ghostbusters Ghost Trap!

If you missed out on the Matty Collector ghost trap, and have a 3D printer, you can print your very own Ghostbusters ghost trap! The folks over at tested.com have put together a video showcasing their 3D printed ghost trap, complete with working pedal and smoke effects! While the actual build of the device will be shown in a later video, it's a really great looking prop! And it looks to be a super fun build! Now I want a 3D printer...

LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Build

I spent the better part of last week building the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse. If you follow my Instagram, you've probably seen the progress pics. If not, here they are in one nice, handy post!

With over 4600 pieces, it's an overwhelming build. Thankfully, the pieces are divided into bags numbered 1-14 to make the build process easier.

Ghostbusters Trailer Breakdown

I haven't talked about the new Ghostbusters film since Paul Feig was announced as the director back in October 2014. Even then I wasn't excited about the prospect of a new Ghostbusters film. I know what you're saying, "But you're a Ghostbusters fan! You SHOULD be into this!" Well, the collective Ghostbusters fandom is entirely divided on this film. And right now, I'm clearly on the fence. I don't care that it's an all female cast. I actually like everyone involved in this movie. I just can't understand why it has to be a REBOOT? It's hard watching a Ghostbusters film where Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston don't exist, and yes I know they don't really exist but you know what I mean! Call it a sequel or an alternate dimension and I would be so on board with this movie! Anyway, here's the first trailer for the movie and you can judge for yourself.

Let's see what this trailer is all about.

Christopher Reeve Meets Michael Keaton

I love a good fan made trailer. With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just over three weeks away, the excitement level is ramping up. YouTube user Adeel of Steel, put together this wonderfully made trailer using footage from Christopher Reeve's Superman movies and Michael Keaton's Batman movies. I think the trailer hits all the right notes and gives a little nostalgic insight into what a Batman/Superman team-up film might have looked like in the 80's.
