The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies First Trailer

When we last left the Hobbit in Desolation of Smaug, the titular dragon had just taken flight when Bilbo and the Dwarves failed to kill him. Now we get to the true desolation of Smaug with the first trailer to the third and final movie in the series, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. And in a really nice atmospheric move, the music to the trailer is Pippin's song which he sings to Denethor in Return of the King.

And now, how about a trailer breakdown since it's been a while?

Bilbo's in shock. Well you did just unleash a dragon dude...

"One day I'll remember. Remember everything that happened." And chances are you'll write a book called The Hobbit, that will eventually be adapted into three extremely long films.

Tauriel! We have to go back!!!

There's the desolation of Smaug.

Families leaving Lake-town after its incineration.

Bard the Bowman. Anybody else keep seeing Owen Shaw?

Galadriel kissing a fallen Gandalf.

Smaug's got nothing on Scrooge McDuck's money bin.

A lot of looking off into the distance coming up.

And here with Legolas.

Bard and some Elven archers.

More gazing into the distance. You think that's how Peter Jackson directs? He just says "gaze off into the distance?"

"I will have WAR!" Because THIS IS SPARTA!!!

Lee Pace showing off the fighting skills he learned as Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Azog the Defiler, this seriously looks like a screenshot from Diablo or WarCraft.

Bolg, not happy. But then again when do orcs ever look happy?

Bilbo, preparing to crap pants.

An army of dwarves riding rams.

Luke Evans sure is getting a lot of screen time in this trailer.

The eye of Sauron is almost as hypnotic as Hypnotoad.

Nock, Draw, Loose!

Ah, there are the Dwarves!

You shall not pass!!!

I am convinced Orlando Bloom is a robot because he does not age.

One last gaze into the distance.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies opens December 17, 2014.
