Transformers Generation Stop Motion

I've talked about stop-motion aficionado Harris Loureiro before. He did this awesome Optimus Prime vs Devastator video last year, and recently did a Megatron stop-motion video showing off the new third party figure, Apollyon. Now he's at it again, this time with 15 minutes of stop-motion goodness that includes plenty of Transformers. Watching the video, it goes to show these Masterpiece and third party figures are super detailed and very poseable. This was a labor of love for Loureiro as this video took six months to complete. This definitely has a G1 feel to it, and hopefully there will be a sequel. I'm willing to wait another six months for it. Good job Harris!

Jurassic World Global Trailer

Summer's approaching fast and new trailers for movies this year are getting released at an alarming rate. Here's the latest one for Jurassic World.

And here are a few things to take away from the trailer.

Chris Pratt Can Talk to Raptors

Well maybe not talk to them, but he can definitely communicate with them, and relate to them because later on in the trailer he's seen riding a motorcycle among them, which is pretty much the movie poster for the film.

The Force Awakens Teaser #2 Breakdown

The first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens gave us glimpses of some of the new characters, and a huge dose of nostalgia at the end with the Millennium Falcon soaring through the sky. The second trailer was released a few days ago and hit a lot of those same notes. Take a look.

The plot is still kind of hazy but there are certain details that have come out of the Star Wars Celebration event that occurred this past weekend that have shed some light on the film. So let's breakdown this trailer and get to some of those details.

When a Star Destroyer gets defeated, all that mass has to go somewhere. This one has crash landed on this sandy planet along with a lone X-Wing in the foreground. According to director J.J. Abrams, this planet is called Jakku and will be featured in Star Wars: Battlefront.

There's a vehicle travelling across the background. It's most likely Rey, the character played by Daisy Ridley who is described as a scavenger. Looks like she's got tons of junk to scavenge.

Batman v Superman Trailer Breakdown

You've no doubt seen the Batman v Superman teaser trailer. If not, here's a look at it.

There's a lot going on in this trailer so let's take a closer look at it.

The trailer starts with various people, journalists, pundits, scientists talking about Superman. Here's a breakdown of what I can discern from this narration.

It sounds like talk show host & journalist Charlie Rose is asking, "Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?"

The opening shot of the trailer reveals a mostly rebuilt Metropolis and zooms in on a statue of Superman. Seriously? They built a statue for him already? Who do they think he is, Rocky?

Daredevil First Impressions

No doubt many of you have already finished the first 13 episodes of Daredevil which premiered on Netflix last week. Some of you probably did it in one night or one weekend. I'm only seven episodes in. I liked the first episode, and as I watch more, it has become a series that I really enjoy so I'm at the point where I ask myself, do I want to binge on the rest or should I slow down and only do 1 or 2 episodes at a time because I kind of don't want it to be over. Anyway, while I figure that out, I just wanted to share my first impressions and some of things I really liked about Daredevil.

Warning: Below are some minor spoilers from the first seven episodes of Daredevil.

Charlie Cox is Instantly Likable

Ben Affleck who?!? Seriously, Cox's performance as Matt Murdock has pushed Affleck's out of my mind. He's subtle, sincere, and charming. And when he dons the outfit, he's kick-ass.

Batman v Superman Teaser Trailer

You've no doubt seen the leaked teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Well much like the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer that got leaked last year, (Dammit Hydra!) Warner Bros. has gone ahead and released a high quality version of the trailer. Check it out below.

Batman v Superman comes out March 26th, 2016.

Game of Thrones Parodies

With Game of Thrones premiering today, let's get into something a little silly. Game of Thrones parodies! Here are a few of my favorites.

From The Warp Zone comes this Game of Thrones medley which is pretty spot on. It starts with Dany Targaryen covering "Titanium" by Sia. C'mon, you can hear her sing "I am Targaryen!" Followed by the Lannisters covering Katy Perry's "Roar" mainly because their motto is "Hear Me Roar." Arya, Jon Snow and Robb Stark cover Eminem's "The Monster" which is probably the weakest entry. And everyone joins in a the end for Imagine Dragon's "Demons."

Avengers: Age of Ultron Latest Trailers

"We're fighting an army of robots... and I have a bow and arrow..."

The Avengers are known as Earth's mightiest heroes, and running down the roster you can mostly believe it. They've got a demi-god, a genius in a flying suit of armor, a super soldier, and a giant, green, rage monster. Then you get to Hawkeye and Black Widow, the two non-super-powered members of the team and the last two trailers for Avengers: Age of Ultron have different takes on those heroes.

In this TV spot, Hawkeye brings up just how ridiculous his weapon choice is for the swarm of foes they're up against.

On the other end of the spectrum, the latest trailer showcases just how badass Black Widow can be. Not only does she calm the Hulk down, she helps retrieve Cap's shield and returns it to him, AND she uses it against an Ultron drone. Joss Whedon is known for writing strong female characters and Black Widow is no exception.

The other thing to note from the trailer is the overhead shot of the battle now includes Quicksilver.

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1st.

Mortal Kombat X Official Launch Trailer

I've covered Mortal Kombat X here on nerdy views a lot, from the launch trailer back in June of last year, to the reveal videos of Raiden, Kung Lao & Kitana, and the Cage Family. But the game release is just around the corner and here's the final official trailer where you can see all the Mortal Kombat fighters laying into each other while System of a Down's Chop Suey plays in the background. After watching this, I don't know if I wanna play this game or go work out. Who am I kidding? I'll play the freaking game...

Mortal Kombat X comes out April 14th.

8-Bit Fast and the Furious

Since Furious 7 is opening today, let's go back to where it all started, but in 8 bit form! The folks at CineFix have put together an 8-Bit Fast and the Furious which is basically Outrun with much less plot.

Deadpool Rated R?

In an "interview" with Extra's Mario Lopez, Ryan Reynolds, who I'm surprised to find out is Canadian, discusses the movie rating of next year's Deadpool. Mario says the PG-13 rating is a good idea, Ryan disagrees with him, and violence ensues.

Plus according to the end of the video, that really is Reynolds in the Deadpool costume. The marketing for this movie so far has been spot on. And because it's always funny, here's Slater getting the crap knocked out of him.

Megatron Stop-Motion

Stop-motion aficionado Harris Loureiro is at it again, and this time he's working his magic on a Transformer that's not even available yet to the public, X-Transbots Apollyon, or as you can see, Megatron. This is probably the closest representation of Megatron in toy form yet. I think he even beats the Masterpiece edition released a few years ago mainly because his legs are the correct proportion and not the thin toothpicks he had in the MP figure. Check out the stop-motion video below and see the badassness of this figure.

The X-Transbots figure was marked with delays and rumors as to the build quality, but Harris confirms that the figure is solid and sturdy. You can preorder your figure at tfsource.com for $150 which is scheduled to release sometime in April.

Artoo In Love

Your favorite astromech droid just fell in love with a blue mailbox with a bow on it, and it's gosh darn cute. Artoo In Love, a short film by Evan Atherton, follows a lovestruck R2-D2 as he woos a mailbox with picnics, carnival caricatures, and even pulls a WALL-E and shields her from the rain with an umbrella. Heck, they even watch The Empire Strikes Back together on Artoo's holographic projector. But seriously Artoo, you can do better than a mailbox... ;)
