LEGO D.Va Build

LEGO D.Va is pretty awesome! Here's a build video I made where I also tried some stop-motion. Spoiler alert, it's hard to do!

And here are some pics!

LEGO Ectomobile Lights

I purchased an LED kit online to install lights in my LEGO Ecto-1. Here's how I put it together and how it turned out.

Putting it together took maybe an hour or two? The hardest part is probably putting the wires between the bricks so they are "inconspicuous."

The kit could be considered a little expensive but since I have no electrical wiring experience, this was the best option for me. I'd also prefer it if I didn't have to plug it in every time I wanted to turn it on, so maybe wiring in a switch would be a good beginner project.

But whatever... My LEGO Ecto-1 has lights now!

Doctor Who Mini TARDIS 3D Print

I bought myself a little knockoff GoPro camera to take time lapse video of my 3D prints, and this is the last one I was able to do before the camera died on me and I had to return it. Enjoy!

Eleven Films I'm Anticipating In 2017

Only a month into 2017 means a whole new crop of movies to get excited about! This year, I just couldn't narrow my list down to ten, so here are the eleven films I'm looking forward to seeing in 2017!

11. John Wick: Chapter 2

What's it about?: Legendary hitman John Wick is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins' guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome, where he squares off against some of the world's deadliest killers. From Wikipedia.

Why I'm excited: The first John Wick was surprisingly fun! With Keanu Reeves back in an ass kicking role minus the Matrix special effects, John Wick was a very entertaining revenge flick. Acting skills be damned! Reeves is perfect for a hitman whose actions speak louder than his words.

When it opens: February 10th

LEGO Ghostbusters in Two Minutes

YouTube user MonsieurCaron is a very talented man who shares my love of Ghostbusters and LEGO. Over a year ago, he did a LEGO stop-motion of the scene at the Sedgewick hotel. And a few months ago, he did an awesome Back to the Future stop-motion he titled "Brick to the Future." Now he's at it again, this time chronicling the entire Original Ghostbusters movie from 1984 in just about two minutes.

The project took him a month to complete and the results are seriously super awesome!

You can check out more of MonsieurCaron's awesome LEGO work at his FaceBook page.

Will Arnett returns from The LEGO Movie to voice the title hero. He's joined by Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker.

Lonely LEGO Batman is slated to hit theaters February 10, 2017.

LEGO Ghostbusters Neutrino Wand

Credit: LEGO Ideas

Following in the footsteps of the LEGO Ecto-1 and the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse, a new plan has been submitted to LEGO Ideas. And it's the Ghostbusters neutrino wand! The great thing about it is it's a 1:1 scale replica so you can actually hold this and pretend you're a Ghostbuster. The detail on this piece is pretty cool. Just check out the control panel.

As with all LEGO Ideas submissions, this one needs your help. It'll need at least 10,000 supporters to get to the review stage so head on over to LEGO Ideas and throw your support behind this set!

LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Build

I spent the better part of last week building the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse. If you follow my Instagram, you've probably seen the progress pics. If not, here they are in one nice, handy post!

With over 4600 pieces, it's an overwhelming build. Thankfully, the pieces are divided into bags numbered 1-14 to make the build process easier.

LEGO Helicarrier

Credit: ZiO Chao
For me, one of the nerd out moments in The Avengers is when the SHIELD helicarrier takes flight for the first time. While there is an official LEGO set available for about $350, a fan just built one twice its size at about 4 1/2 feet. It was built by ZiO Chao and his friends in about a month and a half using only reference photos from the film and about 15,000 LEGO pieces. Go check out his flickr album for this incredible build here.

And here's that scene from The Avengers which still gives me goosebumps!

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It was only a matter of time before Star Wars: The Force Awakens got its own LEGO game. And here's the teaser which mimics the first Force Awakens trailer with its own LEGO twists.

Seriously, I did not think BB-8 could get any more adorable. I have been proven wrong.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits all major game platforms on June 28th.

Holy LEGO Set Batman!

LEGO Batman is pretty popular. He was a featured character in The LEGO Movie, and has his own upcoming spinoff film. Now the classic 60's Adam West Batman is getting his very own set complete with Batcave, BatCopter, Batcycle, and Batmobile!

Here are the designers revealing LEGO set # 76052, which comes in at over 2,500 pieces.

The set will be available in March for $270. Admittedly, I probably won't be buying this set. I've already got that money earmarked for a certain firehouse set I still need to buy. ;) But I still think it's cool, and if you have the space, why not?

But the mini-figures in this set are totally cool! You get Batman & Robin AND their alter-egos! Along with trusted butler, Alfred you get the four major villains. Catwoman looks awesome, and I like how the Joker still has Caesar Romero's mustache which he refused to shave off for the show.

And I'd love to get my hands on a Batmobile if they sold this separately.

A Closer Look at the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse

The LEGO Facebook page just dropped an album full of detailed pictures of the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse. So let's take a closer look at some of them. Above is the cover for the box and here's the back.

LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse

Credit: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/27/lego-ghostbusters-firehouse-photos

This is it! This is definitely it! Entertainment Weekly just gave us our first look at the official LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse set which is set for a January 2016 release. The set has 4,634 pieces, will include 9 mini-figs, and will retail for $349.99. It looks to be a great companion piece to the LEGO Ecto-1 that was released last year. It's time to make some room on the old Ghostbuster shelf.

UPDATE: And here's a closer look at the mini-figs that will be included in the firehouse set! It includes the four main Ghostbusters along with Dana Barett as Zuul, Louis Tully as Vinz Clortho, Janine Melnitz, the taxi driver, the librarian ghost, Slimer, and two other ghosts.

Brick to the Future

October 21, 2015. This date is important in movie lore as the day Marty McFly & Doc Brown travel to in Back to the Future Part II. YouTube user MonsieurCaron, whom I've featured on nerdyviews before for his wonderful work doing LEGO Ghostbusters stop motion, has applied his talents to Back to the Future with this short little gem titled "Brick to the Future." Once again, it's full of awesome and has some very familiar mini-figs and vehicles in supporting rolls. Check it out!

MonsieurCaron has also made a game out of it by challenging you to find some of the LEGO hidden in the video such as Ant-Man, Captain America's shield and the Flash. Plus there are three additional Ghostbuster references that I think are pretty hard to miss.

You can check out more of his awesome LEGO work at BrickFun.net.

Force Friday

Force Friday is the most awkward sounding name... ever... But, it's Disney's way of making a Star Wars-centric Black Friday without any of the discounts. New toys and collectibles have just been released today for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which doesn't open for 3 months! I guess they're trying to avoid the toy shortages of 1977. Anyway, here are some of the things that I'm most interested in.

LEGO Millennium Falcon

If you missed the Millennium Falcon LEGO set the first time it came around, here's your second chance. It's a beautiful looking piece that's 18 inches long and 12 inches wide so there's plenty of room for the 7 figures it comes with. You've got old Han & Chewie, newcomers Finn & Rey, a couple of bad guys and even a little BB-8 droid. You can order the set on Amazon for $150.

Here's the Peter Venkman Level Pack which comes with a little Ecto-1 and containment unit!

Here's the Stay Puft Fun Pack which comes with a terror dog.

And here's the Slimer Fun Pack

LEGO Dimensions - GREAT SCOTT!!!

Heard about LEGO Dimensions? It's an upcoming video game that's like Skylanders or Disney Infinity where you can buy figure packs and play in the game as those figures. This is a huge deal because existing figures such as those from the LEGO Movie and DC Comics will be playable in the game as well as brand new figure sets like Doctor Who and Portal 2. And here's the first direct ad for the game featuring Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back to the Future.

Just imagine all these different franchises being able to interact with each other. Think of it like the LEGO Movie, but on a much larger scale. And in case you missed it, here's the official announcement trailer featuring Joel McHale, with a few Easter eggs thrown in for potential franchises involved in the future like Ghostbusters and The Simpsons.

LEGO Dimensions comes out September 27th.

LEGO Time of the Doctor

A while back, there was a LEGO stop-motion of Day of the Doctor. Now, the ante has been upped with this full on LEGO rendering of the final scene of Doctor Who's Time of the Doctor. It brings back all the feels from Matt Smith's regeneration into Peter Capaldi, and makes me think a LEGO Doctor Who game just has to happen.
