Space Gun!
Space Gun!!! Repainting a toy gun was the latest challenge from the PropTarts, a propmaking group I'm a part of on FaceBook. I decided to use this "Space Laser Light-Up Blaster" I bought from Walmart as my base.

Mini Halo Sniper Rifle Project
I really should have spent this weekend working on a cosplay for Emerald City Comic Con, but I ended up working on this little project. It's a mini Halo sniper rifle! I started by finding an image of it (and a rocket launcher for a future build) and printing it out on card stock.
The basic premise is cutting out the image, tracing the basic shape onto foam, then building it out in layers. I used 6mm foam as a base, 3mm foam for the accents, wooden dowels for the barrel, and a pen cap & tire valve cap for the sight.

Weathering the Master Chief
A few years ago I tried to get myself back into model making with this Sprukit of the Master Chief from Halo. The Level 2 version is pretty simple. It's only 109 pieces and took a few hours to put together. The model is made by Bandai who makes all those awesome Gundam models. Without glue and paint, I thought the finished product looked pretty good.

Halo 5 Blue Team Opening Cinematic
A few weeks ago, the Halo 5: Guardians opening cinematic was revealed showing a newly upgraded Spartan Buck (played by Nathan Fillion) along with the rest of Osiris team. Now here's Blue Team's turn, led by the Master Chief himself.
Halo 5: Guardians hits the Xbox One on October 27th.

Buck's Back! And He's a Spartan!
Well this is news to me. Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck played by Nathan Fillion, last seen in Halo: ODST and Reach will return for Halo 5: Guardians upgraded to a Spartan! Check out the opening cinematic for Halo 5.
Halo 5: Guardians hits the Xbox One on October 27th.

Halo 5: Two Sides To Every Story
A new Halo 5: Guardians trailer debuted last night during The Walking Dead. In it, Spartan Locke, a character who was introduced in the miniseries Halo: Nightfall and will be a playable character in the upcoming game, walks through a bunch of rubble to come upon a wounded Master Chief, all the while monologuing about remembering the Chief as a savior and not as a betrayer before he points his pistol at him.
What the hell is going on here?!? What did Master Chief do that allegedly caused all that destruction? And to make the waters even murkier than before, the end of the video directs you to a second trailer subtitled, "The Truth is Never What It Seems." In this trailer, their roles are reversed and just compounds the confusion.
In addition to the role reversal, the statue of the Master Chief has damage on it in this trailer, possibly implying this takes place after the first trailer and Master Chief somehow escaped Spartan Locke? Or perhaps it's more indicative of both players being playable and there being two different storylines instead of the combined but alternate storytelling of Halo 2 with Master Chief and the Arbiter? Who knows. The only thing we know for certain is that Halo 5: Guardians comes out October 27th.

Halo 2 Anniversary Trailer
With Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming out on November 11th, Microsoft has debuted a brand spanking new trailer showcasing the newly redone cutscenes in Halo 2. It was revolutionary 10 years ago with its online multiplayer and dual wielding weapons. And with this update, it looks absolutely beautiful.
Of course we've been spoiled by great graphics for a while so to get a good scope of what Blur Studios has done (the company that updated the cutscenes) here's a video compiled by Halo Canon, with a comparison of old vs. new graphics. Outstanding work Blur!
The Halo: Master Chief Collection will be available November 11th on Xbox One.

Halo: Nightfall Trailer
Halo: Nightfall is an upcoming five episode digital series produced by Ridley Scott. It's the second foray into live-action for the Halo series, the first being Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which was only okay even with an appearance by the Master Chief. But this one is produced by Ridley Scott, so it's got to be good right?
Nightfall follows Agent Jameson Locke and his team as they investigate terrorist activity on the planet Sedra. The series takes place between Halo 4 and 5, and Agent Locke is set to play a major role in Halo 5. The trailer definitely looks pretty good and also features some Covenant enemies so I'm looking forward to that. But it always begs the question, can a Halo series survive without the Master Chief?
Look for Nightfall to premiere November 11th on the Halo Channel on Xbox. Here's the trailer!

Halo: The Master Chief Collection
A few weeks ago, Halo 5: Guardians was announced for the Xbox One. While that's not coming out until late 2015, you can still get your Halo fix on Microsoft's newest console on November 11th when Halo: The Master Chief Collection launches. Yes, it's a re-release, but it's a GIANT re-release. The collection will include all 4 previous Halo games and they all get a bump running at 1080p and at 60 frames per second. Achievement whores can rejoice as the game will come with all new achievements totaling 4,000 in gamerscore. And every multiplayer map, over 100 in total will also be included, and dedicated servers (finally!) will be handling all the mulitplayer carnage.

Halo 5: Guardians
The next game in the Halo franchise finally has a name, Halo 5: Guardians, and it's set to be released in the Fall of 2015 for Xbox One as reported by Xbox Wire. It's 343 Studios second crack at the franchise after Bungie stopped developing Halo games in 2010.
While I enjoyed playing Halo 4, it was probably my least favorite multiplayer experience of the series. Matchmaking issues, constant lag, and a continuing trend towards the Call of Duty style of play turned me off the game. I watched the multiplayer audience literally drop off a cliff which of course didn't help in finding other gamers to play with. Here's hoping Halo 5 revitalizes the franchise and 343 Studios fixes their online issues, and maybe this will be the game that gets me to buy an Xbox One. It is 18 months away after all.
But until then, I might just go home, pop in Halo 4 and see just how bad I've gotten, assuming there's anybody left to play with of course.
And here's the Halo on Xbox One tease from E3 last year.
