Evolution of Godzilla
The original 1954 Godzilla film was a very serious take on the fallout of nuclear weapons. With the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki less than a decade prior, the idea of nuclear war was still fresh in the minds of the Japanese. Godzilla was a representation of nature's revenge for the atomic bomb, and man's utter futility in dealing with it. This version of Godzilla was all about destruction and he was definitely the enemy of mankind. For the next 10 years, Godzilla would rise from the sea in three more movies to lay waste to Japan for no apparent reason. Humans even enlisted the help of King Kong and Mothra to help defeat the big guy. But the following decade marked a big change in direction for the Godzilla franchise.

Weird Movie Tie-Ins
Lately I've noticed a very disturbing trend of really weird movie advertising tie-ins. It's one thing to have toys from your movie in a McDonald's Happy Meal. It's entirely something else when your movie is promoting something it has no business being connected with. I first noticed it in 2012 when The Hobbit was being promoted by Denny's.

Godzilla: Let Them Fight
It's more Godzilla! And in this latest clip that flying monster from the previous trailer is "buzzing the tower" and in response Godzilla rises up and looks ready to fight that flying beast. It's a really clear look at Godzilla and his adversary.

What's That Flying Thing?
Why are the international trailers almost always better than the American ones? In the latest Godzilla trailer, we see some quick shots of the other monsters. Namely one with a bunch of legs and another one that flies. And those suckers look like they're fighting the big guy! And of course you have the obligatory Godzilla roar. Enjoy as Godzilla comes out May 16th.

Godzilla - Nature Has An Order Trailer
It seems with every trailer, you see a little more of Godzilla and that's certainly the case in this latest trailer. It doesn't offer up much that's new. It just expands slightly on the relationship between Bryan Cranston's character and his wife and the relationship between Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, I mean Kick-Ass and the other Olsen sibling, I mean Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. Plus there's the whole top half of Godzilla.
The big guy devastates on May 16th.

Godzilla: Extended Trailer Mini-Breakdown
You probably spent this weekend seeing Captain America 2 or catching up on your Game of Thrones or you actually went outside and enjoyed the weather. Well while you were out, another Godzilla trailer came out and it gives away a major plot point, which probably happens in the first 15 minutes of the movie but if you're a stickler for spoilers, don't watch this trailer or my subsequent commentary. Although I really appreciate you coming to my site! :P
